| About us |
The Society was formed in 1989 and by the end of that year had 32 members. With the growing interest in family history research the membership has steadily increased over the years. |
Troon @ Ayrshire Family History Society is run by volunteers who share an interest in family history. It is one of the smaller societies in Scotland but has the reputation of being very active, and our monthly meetings which are held from September till June are well attended. We are members of the Council of Ayrshire Family History Societies which meets twice yearly to exchange information and discuss matters of joint interest. |
Our main aim is to encourage interest in family history and to provide the means whereby research may be successful. |
Research - Restricted to members only |
T @ A FHS organises regular monthly meetings and also a few workshops to help members with their research problems. We organise visits to New Register House in Edinburgh, Conferences and other places of interest. Membership of the Society entitles you to attend our meetings, to use our library which contains many useful books and journals from other societies. Members also receive a copy of our journal which is published three times per year and contains many interesting articles and a useful queries page. We also have a computer (with printer and scanner) and microfiche readers for members’ use. New members receive a ‘starter pack’ which contains advice on where to start their research. For further details of the Society please contact us, our members will be
pleased to assist whenever possible. If you would like to join our
Society please fill in the form on the membership page. You will be assured of a very warm
welcome. |
